Turning Magicard into Magic Art

Meet Dinah Cele, A craft artist and card print specialist at Doculam for over 20 years.

Her community work and dedication to working with learners with various physical and intellectual abilities have become widely recognised by various organisations for her work as a craft artist.

At first glance, her beautiful pieces of art look like they are made from beads but on closer inspection, you can see these amazing pieces are actually made from recycled Magicard printer ribbon. Dinah was inspired by the colour combinations that the printer dye film creates and started making small bags and hats in her spare time, eventually moving on to make impressive bowls and even clothes.

Doculam is proud to support initiatives like this as well as various other educational drives in South Africa, as we believe education to be one of the most fundamental tools to developing our under-skilled and disadvantaged youth.
